Once you know what you want and you have a few estimated expense totals in mind, think about what financing options are available to you. Are you limited to a specific amount that you have set aside for this project? Will you plan on taking out a loan—and if so, what amount would you be comfortable borrowing? Being honest with yourself about your financial situation prior to involving contractors can help you set clear budget boundaries from the very beginning of your project.
