When we opened our doors 10 years ago, we did so with just two team members—John and Chrissy Smith, our fearless founders.Today, we’re proud to employ more than 30 team members, plus a whole crew of talented, vetted subcontractors.
So how did we get here? And why should that matter to you?
For a lot of folks, growth is all about the numbers. Business owners tend to measure their success by their bottom line.
We like geeking out over numbers as much as the next guy, but what really matters to us are the motivations, lessons, and results behind those numbers.
When we say we’ve grown our business from two to 30+, we mean we’ve scoured the region for the best of the best. We mean we’ve built a strong, capable, hardworking team of over 30 people who show up every single day with one mutual goal: To provide excellent service to our clients.
When we say our team has grown by over 15x in the last decade, we mean we’ve increased our efficiency and cost-effectiveness with every new team member. We mean we’ve expanded the services we can provide in-house, and that we’ve been able to progressively enact more control over every detail of every project to ensure that our customers are happy with their final product when all is said and done.
The numbers we care most about look less like profit margins and more like the number of managers we can employ on each of our build site. The number of jobs we’ve made available to local experts within our own community. The number of local nonprofits and community efforts we’ve been able to support. The number of upgrades we’ve made to our tools, systems, administration, software—to every single component that makes JC Smith the well-oiled machine we are today.
So yes: We are extremely proud of all the growth we’ve experienced over the last decade. We look forward to continuing to better ourselves and our community in the next ten years.
